7 Blog Ad Networks Worth Checking Out

Once you’ve built up a nice readership for your blog, and you are beginning to see a steady stream of search engine traffic; one of the most important considerations is how you will monetize your blog. The good news is that there are a wide variety of blog ad networks to choose from. Let’s take a look at some of the best.

1. BuySellAds

BuySellAds is a great choice if you haven’t been successful with pay-per-click ad models like Adsense. When you sign up with BuySellAds, you’ll enter your blog information and wait for approval. BuySellAds will automatically retrieve your Alexa Rank, Google Page Rank, and other statistics to display to advertisers. Then you’ll name your price per month to display a banner ad on your site. Advertisers will be able to easily check out your website and decide if they would like to buy a banner ad. BuySellAds takes a 25% commission of the total ad cost.

2. Technorati Media

Technorati Media is the largest social media advertising network and the 3rd largest blog media property. Technorati has long been one of the top destinations for Internet users wishing to find the best and most relevant blogs on a wide variety of subjects. When you join their ad network, they’ll find the highest paying ads for your blog based on your content via a CPM (cost per 1000 views) model.

3. BlogAds

BlogAds is a relatively small network, but they represent some of the biggest names in blogging, like Perez Hilton. One of the biggest advantages to BlogAds is the amount of customization. You can specify the size of the ad you want, and you can even adjust the colors of the ads to match your site. The ads you sell will be based on a monthly fixed charge – not on impressions or clicks. You can reject any ad you wish, and BlogAds takes a 30% commission.

4. Sponsored Tweets

If you are already supplementing your blogging efforts with Twitter, then this can be a great way to get a few extra dollars. All you need to do is register your Twitter account with Sponsored Tweets and set your prices to begin receiving offers. You can charge both on a tweet-by-tweet basis and also on a per-click basis. Kim Kardashian reportedly gets paid $10,000 per tweet, so there is definitely a market here if you have a sizable number of followers.

5. Google Adsense

You may have heard about the Google Adsense network, and you have no doubt seen Google Ads on other blogs. The best part about the Adsense program is its simplicity. It is easy to be accepted into the program, and Google will immediately begin showing ads to your visitors related to the content on your blog. Depending on how valuable your keywords are, you can earn several dollars per click.

6. Amazon Affiliate Program

Another hugely popular advertising network that is easy to join is the Amazon Affiliate program. You can select products to display on your blog, or you can let Amazon choose products automatically based on your content. Every time someone buys something from Amazon, you will receive a percentage of the sale price. The best part is that you can earn even on products you didn’t explicitly advertise. If you recommend a book, someone might go to Amazon and buy an expensive flat screen television.

7. Payperpost

Payperpost is an ad network that brings bloggers and advertisers together. Once you list your blog, your statistics, your price per word, and your price per link; you’ll be able to field offers from advertisers who would like you to write a blog post about their product or service.

Every blog is slightly different, and there is no one best way to monetize it. Your best bet may be to try several of the above networks to see which one has the greatest potential earning power for your blog. Stick with the one that works, and discard the rest.

Monetize Your Blogs With Automated Ads

In a previous post Expert WordPress Video Review I shared with you a free SEO ready and secure WordfPress installer that you can install in just 3 clicks.

Today I have another free service that will help you monitize your blog.

It’s the new Automated Advertising “Bot”…

It’s a system to automate your advertising by getting more traffic to the ads that are profitable for you…automatically.

This is actually pretty cool, you’re going to love it.

  • What IS Automated Ads and what can it do?

It’s a site preloaded with banners for the different categories at ClickBank. You simply plug in your ClickBank ID, and the system generates banners all pointing to your affiliate link.

Once you have selected your category, size of banner, and number of banners to rotate, Automated Ads does the rest. Banners are shown based on their performance which makes your campaigns more and more profitable over time.

Another really cool feature is Automated Ads will automatically test out new popular ClickBank products as they are added to ClickBank for you.

So once you set this up, you never have to worry about which offers are converting for you or not, nor do you have to continually monitor what ClickBank has to offer. Affiliate marketing couldn’t get any easier!

  • How much does it cost?

Here’s the best part…right now it’s free.

The downside to the free application, however, is that you can’t rotate any of your own banners to your own sites, or banners to sites not currently in the program.

The upside is that you can upgrade your account and have free reign at adding whatever banners you want. Plus, you’ll also get 4 other scripts and software tools that allow you to automate your traffic, and ultimately your sales!

10 Tips to Keep Your Readers Interested for Longer

The key to a great blog is great readers. Many writers find that they struggle to acquire and maintain a large or consistent base of readers. There are a lot of factors that contribute to the success and the popularity of a blog and there are a lot of tricks that can help you master these factors. The following ten tips will help you create a blog that keeps your readers interested for longer and provides you with greater blogging success.

  1. Great Content: The best way to keep a steady reader base is to provide great content. The content that tends to thrive in the blogging world, is content that empowers or enables the reader. Come up with excellent “how to” articles or inspire your readers to try something new or expand their horizons. Blogs that help the reader feel productive will have the most loyal readers.
  2. Popular Posts: Having a list of your most popular blog posts at the top or side of your website will allow readers to get to the meat of your blog. If a reader struggles through an uninteresting blog post, he or she is extremely likely to leave the site and never return. If the reader has access to a list of the best articles, however, he or she is likely to find an article to immediately connect with.
  3. RSS Feed: An RSS feed can be an excellent way to build a strong reader base. The feed allows readers to subscribe to your blog. Whenever a new blog is posted, readers will be notified via email. This prevents the frustration of returning to a blog only to find that it hasn’t been updated.
  4. Comments: Many readers enjoy commenting on blogs because it allows them to engage with you and with other readers. Enabling some form of comments can help improve the success of your blog. Additionally, if an exciting conversation occurs in your blog comments, readers are likely to return to your blog to check the progression of the conversation.
  5. Frequent Posting: If you’re not posting blogs, you can’t build a strong reader base. It’s vital that you write blogs as frequently as possible. If your readers check your website once or twice without finding a new blog, they are far more likely to lose interest.
  6. Social Networking: Readers like to feel connected to bloggers. They want to know who you are, what you like, what you look like, and what you’re all about. The best way to allow your readers to feel connected to you is to link to your social networking sites. Accessibility is important and allowing your readers to be your friends on networking sites can have a positive impact on their loyalty to your blog.
  7. Related Posts: A section of related posts at the side or bottom of each blog entry can help readers find articles that they’re interested in. Linking between related blog posts is an excellent way to engage a reader for a longer period of time because they will have the option to view articles that are similar to the one that brought them to your blog in the first place.
  8. Contests: Running contests through your blog is an excellent way to get your readers to return to your site. The contests can take many forms and can be as simple as a silly photo contest. The prizes will depend on your skill, resources, and expertise. You can offer physical prizes, but it is far easier to offer digital prizes. Subscriptions, E-books, and site memberships are all excellent prizes.
  9. Ask Questions: Asking your readers a question at the end of each post can increase the comments on your blog and encourage your readers to return to your site. Because you don’t have to answer the question yourself, you can even ask challenging or controversial questions. This will encourage readers to return to check the comments and may even spark a lively debate on your blog.
  10. Excellent Headlines: A great way to get readers to read your blog posts is to provide excellent headlines. Your headlines should be both descriptive and fascinating. Lure readers in with an exciting and engaging headline that peeks their curiosity.
