How To Use PLR Content in Your Newsletters and Ezines
If I could summarize how to use private label rights (PLR) in 4 steps, here is what they would be…
- Step 1: Find Content
- Step 2: Improve it – Personalize it – Customize it
- Step 3: Add to Marketing Strategy
- Step 4: Do It All Again
What is PLR?
PLR, or private label rights, is content that (according to wikipedia.com) “can be sold and bought in the form of articles, reports, eBooks, software and autoresponders. This kind of content is used for the purpose of allowing multiple buyers to invest in the content with free rein to alter and use it by claiming authorship of it.”
So, what does that mean for you and me – Internet Marketers with websites, blogs and a mailing list?
It means:
- You don’t have to spend the time writing your own content from scratch
- There’s no need to pay a ghostwriter to write articles, newsletter content, etc. for you.
- You can create content that brings your readers back again and again.
- It can be used over and over in various forms.
Let’s break this down in more detail and in easier to understand terms.
- You purchase PLR in the form of articles.
- You read them over, make changes to them adding your own voice (as they say on American Idol – Make It Your Own)
- Alter them for your target market, adding key points
- Add targeted keywords for SEO Optimization
Then you can choose to use those articles as content in your newsletter or ezine.
Here are just a few ideas on how to use PLR Content in your Newsletter or Ezine.
- Create a “Featured Article” area in your newsletter
- Post a link to a page on your site or blog where readers can get more information about the topic. You can do this by adding a snippet of each article with a “click to read more” link
- Use the article to teach your readers how to do something they are interested in
- Post an article in your newsletter and ask for feedback on something specific inside.
If you don’t have your own subscriber list yet or it’s taking a long time to build your mailing list then I highly recommend that you get this report “Accelerated List Building“.

It’s surprising how many of the big names in Internet marketing started with PLR products, reworked enough for the industry not to recognize them as coming from the bigger PLR sales. PLR is one of those areas where you really do get more from them the more you put in, in terms of the ti9me to truly create unique products from them.

Great list of resources for PLR!
PLR is a great way to get started as you can do so many things with it as you have mentioned.
One thing to keep in mind though is that you really do need to makes some changes to it and write it in your own voice.
It doesn’t do much for your credibility if you are selling the exact same product as someone else, especially if you have changed the graphics to make it appear different on the front end.

I look at PLR as giving me the idea of what to write about. While good quality PLR means less rework, it still must be put into your own words. Your readers sometimes can smell out something you didn’t write, simply because they have read other articles that were in your voice.
Another great source for PLR is PLRPro, who gives you not only the PLR articles for a niche, they hand you the keyword research too. Not cheap, but I have found excellent quality.

The most interesting thing I’ve learned about using PLR is that I learn a lot more about the topic when I rewrite the articles for my readers. The process of taking in the information and then putting it in my own words helps me to internalize it, and brings to bear all kinds of other insights about the topic I have picked up from elsewhere. The result is that I improve the product with my own inputs, and improve my knowledge base as well. I benefit and so do my readers.

Good advice. You touched on one great topic, and that is to have an article in your newsletter, then have a link there pointing to the rest of the article on your web site. This is powerful, since it allows you to take your readers to your site, and there you can do a lot more then what you can in your emails. (like Google Adsense, affiliate banners, etc.)

PLR is far, far less expensive than any other content, and they are not sold as many times as people think. Many of my PLR packages have been sold once or twice or even not at all.

I agree that it is important to re-work PLR articles slightly so that you put your own ‘stamp’ on them. It is important that your readers become familiar with your ‘voice’ – your writing should always give a little of your personality.

I spent yesterday sifting through all my PLR books. I know I did not find all of them. There is a lot of information on there. I am going to see what I can do to give some away to my newsletter subscribers. A lot of that information never goes out of dates, but it is amazing how many of the links do not work when you go through them.
I have a source for a lot of PLR material right now, and it is fun to watch the trends through PLR releases.

Are ezines still as popular as they once were? Do they still look for guest authors? I have strayed away from that area over the past year, as I devote most of my time to blogging, and attending seminars (and the day job). I know that certain article directories are a great place to add your content.
I have not published my own ezine. Most likely because I do not have many on my list.
I have PLR articles that I take ideas from for blog posts and for my blogging class, however I am still building that loyal list of followers.
Thanks again for the excellent content on this blog.
