How To Add an Exit Popup To Your Blog Using Aweber

In a previous post I showed you how to add an inline optin box to your blog. In the video below I’ll demonstrate how to add an exit popup optin box on your blog using Aweber.

Pop ups; you either love them or you hate them. They can be distracting to your blog visitors but at the same time if done properly can add value to your readers and new subscribers for your newsletter.

Pop up optin boxes are a very effective ways to add subscribers to you mailing list, especially in niche markets. Creating popups on your blog is relatively easy to do. There are however a few different types of popup windows you can use.

aweber optin types

I prefer the exit popup. So when someone leaves a page on your website they get a popup window thanking them for visiting your site and a gentle reminder to subscribe to your newsletter.

The only negative that I see to the exit popup is that it’s triggered even if the reader clicks on a link within the post.  As far as the script is concerned that’s and exit from the page.  That could bother someone that was planning to spend more time reading your blog.

Another very important consideration for any pop up is how often it shows up. Look at the pop-up recurrence section in the image above and choose the option that suites your blog best. Keep in mind that you don’t want to annoy your readers so choose wisely. I’d recommend the 3rd option – Display every x days.

Testing the different types of pop up optin boxes over time will determine which one gives you the best conversion rate.

Aweber is my autoresponder list provider of choice and highly recommend it. For more information on autoresponders check out How to Choose the Best List Provider – Autoresponder Service

So what do you think of Popup Optin boxes:

  • Do they annoy you?
  • Are they distracting?
  • Do you use them?
  • Which type do you prefer

How To Add An Opt-In Box To Your Blog Using Aweber

In a previous post “5 Steps To Quickly Build Your Subscriber List“  I talked about how important a mailing list is to your online business.  I outlined 5 steps to get started and one of them was to have an opt-in box on your blog or website.

One of my readers left a great comment on that post suggesting that it would be helpful to know how to actually add an opt-in box -  here’s the comment:

Hi Luca,

Great information for a beginner also for a runner. But you could have mentioned how to add an opt-in box also how to submit the article to the directories, it would have helped for a beginner. Any way all the best and have a nice day.

Thanks for your comment. This is exactly the kind of comment I like to get. Feedback like this lets me know what people would like to learn more about. I will do posts about creating optin boxes and how to submit to article directories soon.

Thanks for your feedback Ravikumar.  As a result of the comment I decided to do a video showing exactly how to add an opt-in box to a blog.

There are a number of ways to do this including using some commercial products and plugins but for this example I’m using my autoresponder “Aweber” account to create the Opt-in form for free.

I hope you enjoyed the video.  Now that you’ve seen how easy it is to add an opt-in box using Aweber I hope you go ahead and start building your subscriber list from your own blog.

The only thing left for you to do now is tosubscribe to my newsletter and get my free 21 part List Building eCourse as well as updates to this blog and some great free bonuses.

As I say in my newsletter – I love feedback so please leave a comment with your thoughts or questions.

Take Care and Take Action

Tips and Strategies for Superior Internet Marketing Customer Care

Many internet marketers have questions about customer care in relation to their online business. While wanting to convince just about everyone they encounter to buy from them, they could easily be spending valuable time, resources and money on people who just don’t really fit in the mix.

When working with niches and sales funnels, it’s important to know not everyone is going to follow you. And honestly, you probably wouldn’t want them to anyway. If it’s not “their” niche, they aren’t going to get use from it, when your time and resources could be used more effectively elsewhere.

Understand Buying Behavior

It’s important to understand buying triggers and purchasing behavior.  People tend to buy from those they know, have gained confidence in, and like. You can accomplish all of these things with your customers without ever meeting them face to face. It just takes some time, email messages with a slightly personal tone, followed by trusting actions. Most people can connect with these, and will feel they know you, even if they have never heard your voice or seen more than a picture of you on the Intenet.

Valuable Information

Another thing required to keep your customers happy and coming back to you often, is to provide consistent and  valuable information related to they’re particular niche. This information can range from e-books to articles and reports to audio sessions. It’s all dependent on your particular niche sales funnel and what your customer base actually needs.

Consistent Communication

Encourage your website visitors and customers to come back often by offering a newsletter or free product for them if they sign up for further information from you. Offering quality resources makes it easier for even the most reluctant person to give you their contact information  therefore allowing you to keep in touch with them on a regular basis.

Taking care of your prospects and customers is crucial to keeping them involved in your sales funnel.  They’ll appreciate the effort you put in to the service you are providing when they see something of good or even great quality offered on a consistent basis.

It’s what will keep them loyal to you, as well as have them recommend your site, products and services to their friends too.
