Power Start 2010 – Starting an Online Business The Right Way

Starting an online business should be easy and fast right? At least that’s what you see promoted online.  Just do a search for “how to make money online” and you’ll be greeted with many offers claiming that you can make money online quickly with no money invested and get this “no experience required”.

There is no magic bullet.  Any business takes education, planning, hard work and perseverance. Internet Marketing is a business and needs to be treated as such but these offers are so enticing for new people wanting to start an online business that it’s very easy to jump right in.

It doesn’t take long though to realize that it’s not an overnight venture and many go to the next magic bullet or give up all together which is unfortunate because if done properly an online business can become very profitable.

Starting an online business is really not that difficult if you’re committed to learning about the business, creating a plan and taking action to implement your plan.  This does take some time so don’t quit your day job yet. When I say committed I mean setting aside a couple of hours a day with a detailed plan and focusing only on your plan – don’t get sidetracked with anymore “magic bullets”.  Realize that it will take time and effort on your part to reach success online.

So the question is where do you start? If I were to start all over again I would have done my research and found a good mentor and coaching program.

I can hear you now “but that costs money and there’s no guarantee of success”.

I thought the same thing and instead getting coaching I spent money on  ebooks and programs that promised I could make money online quickly.  Not only that but I wasted many months trying to learn the business on my own.  In the long run it ended up costing me much more in money and time.

As they say hindsight is 20/20.  If only I knew then what I know now.

So in my experience I was one of the people who persisted but almost gave up because I was getting overwhelmed with information (information overload) and was just jumping from one thing to another.

I was fortunate enough to find a mentor in Doug Champigny.  I met Doug first through his newsletters and then on Twitter of all places.  With his guidance, direction and friendship I began to learn what needed to be done and how to do it.  I became focused on growing my online business.

Doug Champigny is a very successful Internet Marketer and Speaker who enjoys helping people but most importantly is an excellent teacher.

I’m very excited that Doug has recently announced a new coaching program Power Start 2010.

It’s a 4 week intensive course that will challenge you every step of the way to get your online business up and running by the end of the 4 weeks.

Let’s be clear, this course is not for everyone.  Like I said earlier it takes total commitment on your part, you will need to follow instructions and do the “work” every week so you can be ready for the next week’s lesson.

If you are committed to start building a successful online business then I highly recommend Power Start 2010.

The program will be on Monday evenings starting on February 1st,

Here’s a short summary of what you can expect:

  • Live Teleseminar with follow up question period (Doug will stay on as long as there are question)
  • Recordings of the calls will be made available – if you can’t attend live
  • Step by step process map for each activity
  • Step by step videos for each activity (showing you HOW to not just What to do)

So if you’re serious about starting an online business the right way sign up today for the February 1st session.

I’ve already signed up and hope to see you there – start your online business on the right foot.

Are you cut out to be a successful online entrepreneur?

This is a question to really think about as 2009 draws to a close and 2010 is looming around the corner.

What you need more than anything else is the determination to succeed and the ability to remain challenged with life’s roller-coaster setbacks and failures. If you’re able to tilt your chin at challenges and refuse to give up you’ve already won half the battle.

Canadian humorist Stephen Leacock was born in the little town of Orillia, Ontario; and although he died over half a century ago, a large mural still graces the wall of a building on Front Street, displaying his portrait – and Leacock’s favorite quote: “I am a great believer in luck. The harder I work the more of it I have.”

There’s a great deal of truth to that quote – even though the quote actually wasn’t Leacock’s at all, but something he had borrowed – a motto to live by – from Thomas Jefferson!

The same motto could be applied to becoming a successful online entrepreneur.

The Harder I Work The More Success I Will Have

Hard Work To Expect:

  1. A learning curve, educate yourself right from the start.
  2. A battle with self-discipline – there are so many distractions on the net, and so many courses to take, ebooks to download. (I mention this because it’s a spectacularly common problem with online entrepreneurs!)
  3. A period of hard work at the beginning for each web site, blogs, and promotions you set up – but the more you do it, the easier it will get, each time.
  4. Several promotions and list building campaigns going at once, with more added regularly. Realistically, you will not replace your full-time income and have money to spare by promoting just one product. This however will come with time.

In order to be a successful online entrepreneur, you will almost certainly need:

  • A plan
  • A market
  • A mentor
  • A clear vision based on solid research
  • A separate bank account for your business
  • A business plan and sales funnel(s)
  • A safety net

You will also need to develop these attributes:

  • Commitment
  • Self-discipline
  • Determination
  • Confidence
  • Patience
  • Integrity
  • A sense of humor

Sounds like a lot of work, doesn’t it?

Well, it is… and it isn’t. There is always hard work for the first few months – perhaps longer, depending on the time you have available.  Once you’ve set your goals and have a definite plan in place it gets easier to get the results you’re looking for.

Let’s be realistic though!  People always seem to envision setting up one or two sites, and having thousands of dollars roll in. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t work that way, especially not at first!

Remember:

“I am a great believer in luck. The harder I work the more of it I have.”

So do you have what it takes to be a successful online entrepreneur?

I think we all do but also realize that it takes hard work, education, commitment and of course the ability and willingness to TAKE ACTION.

Be determined to succeed, work hard and luck and money will follow.

Journey To An Online Home Based Business

Journey to an Online Home Based Business

I wrote this back in August 2008 and submitted it to ezinearticles.com. I came across it again lately and thought I should post it on my blog – you see I did not have one then. Boy I’ve learned a lot since then and keep learning every day. The Journey does continue.

The Research:

The Internet is a very loud place isn’t it? As we surf along quietly doing our research for ways to make money online – whether it’s a part time opportunity or to start a home based business – we seem to get off-track very quickly. We start off determined and want to stay on the straight and narrow but soon our attention gets swayed and we start listening to the loud and tempting voices offering outrageous amounts of money virtually overnight and hey no work or experience required.

Temptation:

The temptation is too much we end up bouncing from site to site reading page after page of promising online business opportunities. They seem to get better and better. All of a sudden you realize that 4 hours have gone by and have nothing to show for it.

Reflection:

Time to put the dreams of starting your online money making business aside for now but the thoughts still linger – if they can make money online so can I. So you persist and even though you know that the promises are too good to be true and it’s against your better you finally purchase thateBook or get rich quick program only to find out they’re not what you expected or what they promised.

What to do next:

Usually there’s panic as you realize that you’ve invested money in something that just can’t work so you let it go. Weeks go by and you start doing research again and find many of the same offerings – again the entrepreneurial spirit tells you – if they can do it so can I.

Finally Action:

You actually take the time to read the eBooks and program materials and find out that to make money online it takes business sense and skill as well as applying what you learn. You are now determined to succeed so you read, learn and start implementing some of the techniques you’ve learned.

Results:

You learn and accept that this new venture will not flourish overnight and that it will take time and effort to get it off the ground. You’re in it for the long haul so you persist and finally start to see results from your hard work. All of a sudden you’ve become well informed on Internet Marketing you understand the jargon, you’ve decided what your niche is and you even have your fist web site up and running. You don’t feel as anxious about making money online anymore because you know you’re building a long lasting business that will succeed.

Journey’s End? Or Just the Beginning:

Your determination and hard work is paying off. Your journey to an online business does not end here. You need to keep learning as you earn and keep taking action by implementing new found products and techniques. Your entrepreneurial spirit will guide you to new online projects and you finally realize that yes – if they can do it so can I – because you’ve done it.

You’re finally on your way.

Never stop learning
