Discover The Answers To The Top 3 SEO Questions

Even if you know a fair amount about search engine optimization, or SEO, you may have questions. Because search engine optimization is an evolving technology, it pays to stay on top of the industry. Here are just a few of the most common SEO questions.

1. What are text links?

Text links are links that contain only text. The links are contained within a sentence and     when a reader clicks on them, they are taken to a different page on the same website.  Generally, the text included in the link is called anchor text and it’s a great way to optimize the keywords on your page and link to an external or internal webpage.

2. What are link farms and link exchanges?

They’re bad news. While links to your website are important for a good page ranking, search engine spiders don’t accept just any old link. The link has to be from a relevant and quality website.

A link farm is a Web page designed to profit from linking to web pages and Google and the other major search engines will penalize you for participating,

Link exchanging is essentially a link trade, “I’ll link to you if you link to me.” It’s okay to do this in small doses as long as the website you’re trading links with is relevant to your website. If your website sells dog-training products and you’re trading links with a furniture website then the search engines are going to discount the link.

3. What is latent semantic indexing?

When search engines find a keyword or keyword phrase on a webpage, they automatically search for other related words and phrases they would reasonably expect to see.  For example if you’re writing an article on snowboarding the spiders may also search for boarding, riding, skiing, freeride style and so on.

If the search engine spiders find these related words or phrases they have more confidence the primary keyword is being used in context, and therefore they will judge the page as more relevant.

LSI has been an active part of search engine ranking for a few years and as more and more content is published online, it’s becoming more important for webmasters to recognize it and make use of it when writing their content.

Search engine optimization is part science and part art.
The science comes from understanding the technology involved in meeting and understanding the search engine algorithms. The art, creating valuable content that includes your sometimes awkward keywords and keyword phrases. As your business grows and your web pages and content increase, you’ll want to stay on top of this ever changing practice.

Are Your Niche Sites and Mini Sites Optimized For Targeted Keywords?

Search engine optimization, or SEO for short, should be a top priority for any website or blog. Even those that have thousands of pages and posts should have each one optimized for targeted keywords in order to get the best possible search engine rankings. This opens the door for much more traffic.

But what about niche sites and mini sites? Can they compete with those huge sites from an SEO perspective? Well, they certainly won’t have as many pages listed in search results, because they don’t have as many pages. But yes, they can fare well in the search engines.

Niche sites and Mini sites have an important advantage over those gargantuan sites. They are targeted toward a very specific niche. That means that they can target keywords the more specific keywords that bigger sites tend to overlook. These keywords may not have an astronomical search volume, but they are subject to much less competition. That means that it’s easier to rank highly for them.

Finding the perfect keywords to generate targeted traffic is a skill we all need to learn and apply. Mike Paetzold of WordPress Made Easy will be having a special “Keyword Call” on Wednesday August 19th at 7:00 PM.

If you don’t know Mike he’s known as the WordPress Guy and that’s for a very good reason. Not only does he know WordPress inside and out but he’s also able to set up brand NEW niche blogs and get targeted traffic to them very quickly. He does this by using his expertise in keyword research. During the Keyword Call Mike and Steve Roye will be teaching us how to generate traffic drawing keywords using completely free tools.

Once you’ve found the perfect keywords your next step is including them in your web pages in a way that will cause the search engines to take notice. There is no surefire formula for a number one ranking, but there are techniques that will give you an edge over the competition. Here are a few pointers:

  • Include your most important keyword phrase in the page’s title. If possible, put it at the very beginning of your title. The title tag has become a favorite of the search engines, so use it to your advantage.
  • Write a keyword-rich description for your description tag. This tag doesn’t carry as much weight as it once did with the big search engines due to abuse, but it’s worth paying some attention to it.
  • Use your keywords in headings. The search engines see this as a sign that your content is in fact related to the keywords you’re using.
  • Include keywords in alt tags to describe your graphics. Search engines do pay attention to this.
  • Sprinkle your keywords throughout the page’s text, but make sure you do so in a natural and logical way. Including your keywords in your content is important, but overuse of a given keyword could result in penalties.

All sites require good a good SEO plan in order to be successful. Finding the right keywords and using them in the right way will result in targeted traffic. And if your niche and mini sites are doing their jobs, that traffic will translate into sales.

Cool Blogging Tool I Use: PLR To WordPress

On my last post I New PLR Membership Site With a Twist I talked about “Resell Rights Fortune“. The site that is fully searchable by category and license terms. I hope you picked up your membership before the price went up. If not it’s still a fantastic deal.

Today I want to share with you how I utilize my PLR Articles and introduce you to a cool Blogging tool that I use on my niche sites on a regular basis.

As I’m sure you already know WordPress is a self hosted blogging platform that has become very popular in the past couple of years. With WordPress you can update your blog with content for your readers on a regular basis without too much technical knowledge.

Google loves Blogs because they are constantly being updated with relevant content and as a result they are rewarded by getting indexed quickly and ranked higher in the Search Engines.

You may have heard the term Content is King. People search the Internet for information on variety of different subjects; if you don’t update your blog with content on a regular basis you won’t have visitors. No visitors = no sales.

Here’s the problem though. How do you keep your blogs updated with new content on a regular basis? You need to come up with fresh ideas, research them, write an article and then finally upload it to your WordPress blog.

I have numerous niche blogs to maintain and I found these solutions to help me.

Solution 1: PLR Articles

That’s where PLR Membership sites such as Resell Rights Fortune or PLR Package sites like EasyPlr come in. They have articled on a variety of niches that may be of interest to you.

  • Ideas are taken care of for you
  • The research is done for you
  • Written for you and ready to post or customize

Solution 2: PLR To WordPress Plug-in

  • Use your PLR Articles on your blogs
  • Import your articles directly to your blog
  • Keeps your blog loaded with relevant content.
  • Choose how often your articles get posted, every hour? Every Day?
  • Set the articles dates to the past
  • Choose the category the articles are posted to
  • Randomize” your post times. This helps make your blog look more natural for visitors.
  • Can be used on multiple blogs

plr to wordpress

PLR to WordPress works just like any other WordPress plug-in. You upload it to your plugins folder and activate it.

Here’s what’s required to use this plugin with your PLR articles.

  • The articles should be text files with a .txt extension
  • Each text file should have the article title on line one and the article on the lines below that
  • These are standard PLR formats and PlrToWorpress supports the standard
  • You place the articles you want imported in “thearticles”

That’s it, not complicated at all.

There are a few things that I do before and after my articles are uploaded with PLR To WordPress.

  1. Depending on the niche blog I may re-write the article
  2. After the articles are posted I’ll go back and add relevant tags – not necessary but it helps with Search Engine optimization
  3. When I have time I’ll also go back and format the post and maybe add an image
  4. I’ll also go back and monetize the posts if appropriate
  5. I find that it’s also a good idea to add an original post from time to time

All in all this is a fantastic way to have your blogs updated with relevant content on a regular basis while you work on other things. I really love this solution. Articles are written for you and posting to your blog is done on autopilot.

Here is one of my Niche blogs that I use PLR Articles and the PLR To WordPress plugin – Home and Family Info.

This site was indexed quickly and gets some good Search Engine hits. I’ve not spent a lot of time on it but it’s building nicely without much attention from me.

These solutions (PLR Membership Sites and PLR To Worpress) will keep your blogs updated with good relevant content for weeks or months to come.

Implement these solutions and you too will save time and have your blogs ranking high in the Search Engines.
