Are You Cut Out To Be a Successful Online Entrepreneur?

Are you cut out to be a successful online entrepreneur?
This is a question to really think about as 2009 draws to a close and 2010 is looming around the corner.
What you need more than anything else is the determination to succeed and the ability to remain challenged with life’s roller-coaster setbacks and failures. If you’re able to tilt your chin at challenges and refuse to give up you’ve already won half the battle.
Canadian humorist Stephen Leacock was born in the little town of Orillia, Ontario; and although he died over half a century ago, a large mural still graces the wall of a building on Front Street, displaying his portrait – and Leacock’s favorite quote: “I am a great believer in luck. The harder I work the more of it I have.”
There’s a great deal of truth to that quote – even though the quote actually wasn’t Leacock’s at all, but something he had borrowed – a motto to live by – from Thomas Jefferson!
The same motto could be applied to becoming a successful online entrepreneur.
The Harder I Work The More Success I Will Have
Hard Work To Expect:
- A learning curve, educate yourself right from the start.
- A battle with self-discipline – there are so many distractions on the net, and so many courses to take, ebooks to download. (I mention this because it’s a spectacularly common problem with online entrepreneurs!)
- A period of hard work at the beginning for each web site, blogs, and promotions you set up – but the more you do it, the easier it will get, each time.
- Several promotions and list building campaigns going at once, with more added regularly. Realistically, you will not replace your full-time income and have money to spare by promoting just one product. This however will come with time.
In order to be a successful online entrepreneur, you will almost certainly need:
- A plan
- A market
- A mentor
- A clear vision based on solid research
- A separate bank account for your business
- A business plan and sales funnel(s)
- A safety net
You will also need to develop these attributes:
- Commitment
- Self-discipline
- Determination
- Confidence
- Patience
- Integrity
- A sense of humor
Sounds like a lot of work, doesn’t it?
Well, it is… and it isn’t. There is always hard work for the first few months – perhaps longer, depending on the time you have available. Once you’ve set your goals and have a definite plan in place it gets easier to get the results you’re looking for.
Let’s be realistic though! People always seem to envision setting up one or two sites, and having thousands of dollars roll in. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t work that way, especially not at first!
Remember:
“I am a great believer in luck. The harder I work the more of it I have.”
So do you have what it takes to be a successful online entrepreneur?
I think we all do but also realize that it takes hard work, education, commitment and of course the ability and willingness to TAKE ACTION.
Be determined to succeed, work hard and luck and money will follow.

Are Your Niche Sites and Mini Sites Optimized For Targeted Keywords?
Posted by: | CommentsAre Your Niche Sites and Mini Sites Optimized For Targeted Keywords?
Search engine optimization, or SEO for short, should be a top priority for any website or blog. Even those that have thousands of pages and posts should have each one optimized for targeted keywords in order to get the best possible search engine rankings. This opens the door for much more traffic.
But what about niche sites and mini sites? Can they compete with those huge sites from an SEO perspective? Well, they certainly won’t have as many pages listed in search results, because they don’t have as many pages. But yes, they can fare well in the search engines.
Niche sites and Mini sites have an important advantage over those gargantuan sites. They are targeted toward a very specific niche. That means that they can target keywords the more specific keywords that bigger sites tend to overlook. These keywords may not have an astronomical search volume, but they are subject to much less competition. That means that it’s easier to rank highly for them.
Finding the perfect keywords to generate targeted traffic is a skill we all need to learn and apply. Mike Paetzold of WordPress Made Easy will be having a special “Keyword Call” on Wednesday August 19th at 7:00 PM.
If you don’t know Mike he’s known as the WordPress Guy and that’s for a very good reason. Not only does he know WordPress inside and out but he’s also able to set up brand NEW niche blogs and get targeted traffic to them very quickly. He does this by using his expertise in keyword research. During the Keyword Call Mike and Steve Roye will be teaching us how to generate traffic drawing keywords using completely free tools.
You can sign up for the call here: Keyword Call
Once you’ve found the perfect keywords your next step is including them in your web pages in a way that will cause the search engines to take notice. There is no surefire formula for a number one ranking, but there are techniques that will give you an edge over the competition. Here are a few pointers:
- Include your most important keyword phrase in the page’s title. If possible, put it at the very beginning of your title. The title tag has become a favorite of the search engines, so use it to your advantage.
- Write a keyword-rich description for your description tag. This tag doesn’t carry as much weight as it once did with the big search engines due to abuse, but it’s worth paying some attention to it.
- Use your keywords in headings. The search engines see this as a sign that your content is in fact related to the keywords you’re using.
- Include keywords in alt tags to describe your graphics. Search engines do pay attention to this.
- Sprinkle your keywords throughout the page’s text, but make sure you do so in a natural and logical way. Including your keywords in your content is important, but overuse of a given keyword could result in penalties.
All sites require good a good SEO plan in order to be successful. Finding the right keywords and using them in the right way will result in targeted traffic. And if your niche and mini sites are doing their jobs, that traffic will translate into sales.

How To Fix Dead Links and Save Your Traffic
Posted by: | CommentsDead Links Kill Your Traffic

Online business owners know what links are and how important they are. A link is a portal to your site that may come from your own site or an outside source. Links help visitors find their way to your site and navigate through your pages.
You can almost think of your links as your website’s roads. When one of those links is “dead” or “broken”, traffic cannot get through. The road is closed. If you’ve ever driven on a road for a long time, and right before you get to your destination, you realize the road is closed, you know how frustrating it can be.
Your website visitors experience the same frustration when trying to navigate their way through broken links. In most cases, they won’t try to find an alternate route; they’ll simply click away from the site and find the information they are looking for elsewhere.
Dead links are a common problem on the internet and can happen naturally over time. If a website owner regularly checks them and fixes broken links as they occur, they shouldn’t see any problems with traffic.
Problems can occur when dead links build up and become out of control. As stated above, when a website visitor cannot get to the information they want, they’ll click away out of frustration.
If the majority of a website’s visitors are experiencing that frustration, it is easy to see that the website’s traffic will go down dramatically.
A website owner can check their links for free by using a link-check service, which are available quite readily online. A good one to use is found at http://www.indiabook.com/webmaster/link.html
With this service, you type in the URL of a page on your site and the checker will scan all the links on it, automatically checking to see if the links are good or bad. Within a few seconds, you will see the results on your screen. Each link will be displayed with the word “good” or “bad” next to it.
If a site is built with an HTML editor such as FrontPage or DreamWeaver, consult the software for easy ways to fix broken links.
For those using WordPress to build their sites, a plug-in is available that can remove and fix these links. The plug-in is found here: http://techblissonline.com/broken-links-remover-wordpress-plugin/
Dead links can be a common problem among website owners but they don’t have to take your traffic away. By routinely checking your site and making repairs, your site will have a clear “road system” to help your traffic get to where it wants to go.
